Rally for Food for All Oregonians: Oregonians Unite at Capitol to Demand the Passage of SB 610

Salem, OR — In a culminating push to support full funding for SB 610, Food for All Oregonians, a rally will be held at the Oregon State Capitol on June 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This event brings together members of the Food for All Oregonians Coalition, community leaders, advocates and impacted individuals from immigrant and refugee communities. If passed, the bill will extend food assistance to more than 62,000 Oregonians facing hunger currently excluded from receiving SNAP benefits.

With the recent positive revenue forecast, we can make Food for All Oregonians a reality. The rally, supported by a coalition of more than 125 community-based organizations, promises to be an impactful and inspiring display of unity, urging lawmakers to take decisive action on SB 610. It will also urge the legislators who have walked away from their jobs to return so that Oregon can pass a variety of critical policies that will support Oregon families and support a thriving state.

• Darwaish Zakhil, Co-founder of the Afghan Support Network

WHY:

• The rally will highlight the urgent need to pass SB 610, Food for All Oregonians, this legislative session.

• Inspirational speakers will share personal stories and perspectives on the importance of ensuring access to food for all Oregonians coupled with compelling visual displays.

• A call to action will be made, urging individuals to contact their legislators to prioritize SB 610 at FoodForAllOR.org/Emails.

• Opportunities will be available for media representatives to interview the speakers and capture compelling footage.
