How we’re passing Food for All Oregonians in 2025
Everyone deserves nourishing food and access to food assistance. Yet more than 62,000 Oregonians are unfairly excluded from food assistance and other vital programs, leaving huge portions of Oregon communities behind.
Together, we are working to change that. In the 2025 legislative session, the Food for All Oregonians coalition is focused on expanding food access for all of Oregon’s youth and elders, including immigrant Oregonians. This is a crucial step toward a future without hunger.
Now is the time for Oregon to lead the way in ending hunger
Our families, communities and economies thrive when everyone has access to food. But with a high cost of living across the state, too many families are forced to make impossible decisions between buying groceries and other essentials like medication and housing costs. Across Oregon, 1 in 6 kids don’t have enough to eat. And we know immigrant and refugee communities, People of Color and many other families experience food insecurity at 2-3 times the rate of white Oregonians.
At a national level, the incoming Trump administration and congressional leaders have threatened immigrant communities and promised to erode access to essential resources. State-level solutions are more urgent than ever. Oregon must lead the way by ensuring that all Oregonians, including immigrants and refugees, can access the food we need to nourish our families and keep our communities resilient.
Food for All Oregonians is a community-led policy that would reduce hunger across Oregon
Together with leaders across the state, we’re pushing to pass Food for All Oregonians in 2025 to create a state-funded program that ensures Oregon’s youth and elders, including immigrants, have access to the food we need to thrive. Food for All Oregonians is a historic policy change that will:
Make food assistance available to Oregonians ages 0-25 and 55 and above who are currently excluded due to immigration status.
Provide grocery money to families that is similar to federal SNAP food assistance benefits.
Ensure everyone is aware of this vital support through community navigation and outreach, improved language access and more.
Pave the way for future legislation that will ensure everyone of any age has access to food assistance regardless of their immigration status.
